Air mass
Climate Change 2021 – The Physical Science Basis, Annex VII: Glossary, written by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and published by Cambridge University Press in 2023, defines an air mass as: ‘A widespread body of air, the approximately homogeneous properties of which (i) have been established while that air was situated over a particular region of the Earth’s surface, and (ii) undergo specific modifications while in transit away from the source region.’
